Short answer: Mount Pleasant is not one kind of window house, and that is the first thing worth knowing before anyone books a clean. A good share of East Cooper sits on some of the newest, largest coastal glazing in the Charleston area - the big low-e and impact picture windows across Park West, Carolina Park, Dunes West and the waterfront lots facing the harbor and the Intracoastal - while a separate pocket, the Old Village and the older blocks around it, still runs original wavy glass and true divided lites set in frames that have been there for generations. Those two populations want opposite methods, and a crew that arrives with a single squeegee and one chemical assumes they are the same house. The common thread is the load East Cooper air puts on glass in the first place: a mineral film off the marsh, the creeks and the harbor, an organic haze from Lowcountry humidity, and a spring pollen coat - and the value of cleaning glass here is less about the pane being "dirty" than about it being coated in a way that a rinse cannot move.
